I am happy to share that Stratford has received $544,583 in state funding from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Materials Management Infrastructure (MMI) Grant Program. This funding will help our town lower waste disposal costs and increase recycling and food scrap diversion. This grant is a huge step in making our community more sustainable and building a cleaner future.

The work at the Capitol continues as my colleagues and I are moving through the legislative process. Committees are working through the Joint Favorable (JF) process where legislation is reviewed, amended, and voted on. This is an important step in shaping the legislation that will impact our communities.

It was an eventful week at the Capitol as committees are wrapping up meetings and hearings. My colleagues and I are working hard on legislation we hope to get passed this session and having crucial conversations about issues impacting residents around the state. It was another exciting week at the Capitol as committee meetings and public hearings are taking place and the House was back in Session on Wednesday, March 5th where I was proud to vote in favor restoring the $40 Million dollars in Special Education, funding for nonprofits impacted by federal cuts, the 2025-2030 Conservation and Development Plan and Judicial and Executive nominations. It is always an honor to continue to serve our community and to be able to have critical conversations with my colleagues about the work we are doing.

I had an eventful week at the Capitol! On Monday 02/24 the House went into Session at 5 pm. We held a vote on two bills that addressed issues including Special Education Funding, Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans, and Community Funding Grants. Further down in this email you will find more information on what was passed as a part of these bills.

We had several important announcements this week from Hartford that I want you to be aware of in addition to the committee work my colleagues and I continue to progress. But first, I would like to share with you a few key issues raised in my committee hearings this week.

On Wednesday in a Joint Session at the capitol, Governor Lamont delivered his budget address to us presenting his priorities. The process continues as we strive towards balancing a budget that responsibly invests in our state, its people, and its future.
