Today is Gun Violence Prevention Awareness Day and I commend all the advocates who are working towards making our communities safer.

Proud to join in a Celebration of Champions event at Norwalk High School – congratulations to all the fantastic talented student athletes who work hard every day and make us all proud!

I am pleased to have joined with my colleagues, our Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and other officials, partners, advocates and community organizations to launch our local 2020 Census outreach efforts. It is imperative that we educate our residents about the significance of their full participation in the 2020 Census. This effort starts with creating awareness and educating our constituents on the consequences we would face should we fail to provide a complete count of our local population.

Connecticut residents have expressed their frustration at rising prescription drug costs and their difficulty affording their medication. I understand this is a sensitive and critical issue for many who must take daily doses of prescribed treatment in order to improve their health. This is why I support HB 7174, An Act Concerning Prescription Drugs.

Today is Equal Pay Day. This day symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. I talked with the @golivegirl community today on the importance of supporting each other to change the status quo!

I am excited to share with you that a measure I am sponsoring to require school districts to provide at least fifty minutes of undirected play in order to develop children's social skills, physical development and emotional well-being was featured in the New York Times.

Now that my legislative colleagues and I have Governor Lamont’s budget proposal in hand, officials from state departments and agencies have begun giving their budget presentations in public hearings before the Appropriations Committee of which I am a member.

Pleased to have joined my colleagues, Rep. Sean Scanlon and Sen. Matt Lesser, co-chairs of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, as well as State Comptroller Kevin Lembo and advocates to announce new legislation to address the high cost of prescription drugs.
