House Passes Important Clean Slate Updates

The House of Representatives passed HB 6918 on Tuesday that makes important clarifying and technical changes to the groundbreaking Clean Slate legislation signed into law in 2021, which can now be fully implemented and deliver on the promise of a fresh start for hundreds of thousands of people in education, employment and housing without the burden of a long-past criminal conviction.

We were back in session for the first time in a few weeks! We worked on Judicial, Executive & Legislative nominations as well as a few key pieces of legislation.

This is the time of year when my colleagues and I will be in the capitol more frequently to start debating and passing new legislation, and I will be sure to keep you posted on our progress!

Increasing Accountability Among Utility Companies

The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) unanimously voted to begin a search for consultants to monitor the performance of the state's two electric distribution companies - Eversource and United Illuminating. This is an important step toward eventually shifting to performance-based regulation for the companies.
