This week, the House and Senate met to pass several bills, which included additional aid to Connecticut's critical firefighter cancer relief fund, confirming judicial appointments, approving a labor contract with Judicial Marshalls, and establishing enforcement mechanisms for bottle redeemers who are coming from out of state. It was another productive day in Hartford on behalf of our district!

Session, Fresh Food Funding, and more

It was great to join my colleagues this week as we advocated for passage of a child tax credit bill that will be raised in the legislature this year.

The proposal calls for a fully refundable child tax credit of $600 per child, for up to three children, available to families earning up to $100,000 for single filers and $200,000 for joint filers. The measure would deliver meaningful, immediate relief to working families across Connecticut.

At a time of rising prices for all Americans, parents should never have to worry about putting food on the table or keeping their home warm, and this child tax credit is a great first step in providing that security.

Governor Ned Lamont activated Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol today at noon, and it will remain in effect until noon on Wednesday, January 28, due to a blast of extremely cold air that will impact the state during this period.

Please be reminded that warming centers throughout the area are available for individuals and families in need. You can search for them here. These locations provide a safe, heated space during extreme cold conditions.
