Three tax relief measures went into effect on January 1, including the largest income tax cut in state history, an increase in a tax credit aimed at the lowest-income workers, and an expansion of exemptions on certain pension and annuity earnings that will benefit the senior population.

As we ring in the new year, there are some laws that become effective on January 1 that were passed during the 2023 legislative session addressing key issue areas including early voting, health and mental health, and online privacy and data protection.

The City of Hartford Planning & Zoning Division has been working with the Blue Hills neighborhood on a Traffic Calming Demonstration Project to design slower, safer streets.

There is a temporary pilot installation around Rawson Elementary School. The project is intended to be a temporary demonstration that will be in place and data collected in December.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will host two in-person public meetings for the Greater Hartford Mobility Study.

The first public meeting will be on Thursday, November 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Chrysalis Center at 255 Homestead Avenue in Hartford.

The second public meeting will be on Thursday, November 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cultural Community Center at 50 Chapman Place in East Hartford.

The Veterans & Military Affairs Committee is hosting an informational hearing on Wednesday, November 8, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, Room 2C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
