Over the next few weeks, I will take the opportunity to share updates on work done by each of the committees on which I serve, beginning with Planning and Development, otherwise known as P&D.

I hope you’ll join me for one of the following events, an in-person legislative wrap-up with the League of Women Voters, the state’s National Prevention Week event at the Discovery Museum, and the annual Fairfield CARES Community Event featuring Marc Brackett, Yale professor, internationally acclaimed author, and emotional intelligence researcher.

I was proud to support a budget that includes a child tax credit, increases the Earned Income Tax Credit for working families, maintains the gas tax break, eliminates the pension tax, lowers the car tax in places like neighboring Bridgeport, and provides critical investments in mental health services for our young people.

Yesterday, the House unanimously passed HB 5001, An Act Concerning Children’s Mental Health. I was proud to serve as a member of the small, bi-partisan working group that developed and refined the seventy-three section bill.

As May quickly approaches, I wanted to alert you to a few opportunities happening during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Here is information about safety on our roadways, the CT Department of Transportation Capitol Plan request for public input, COVID Booster Clinics this week, the Renter’s Rebate Program, and the next Fairfield Business Roundtable.

I was proud to champion the bill that allows our restaurants to continue their enhanced outdoor dining for another 13 months.

This past Tuesday was Vietnam Veterans Day. As the wife, daughter, and granddaughter of Veterans, I am committed to providing the supports and resources needed for our veterans’ mental health and wellness.
