Rep. Paris joined 90 state legislators from 41 states across the country, as well as First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, to discuss childcare policy achievements from their respective legislative sessions. The group of lawmakers explored different legislative strategies to make childcare more affordable for working families, increase childcare provider supply, and improve job quality for childcare workers.

Part of what makes Connecticut great is that we seek to lift up all residents, regardless of income or background. This program is one more example of that commitment to our community.

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) made a big decision regarding affirmative action in educational settings. SCOTUS banned the use of affirmative action in college admissions. Equal access to education and opportunities should be a priority. This is a setback for justice and equality.

Under the program, Connecticut children 18 years of age and under – plus one accompanying adult – can receive free admission to any of the participating museums, including historic house museums, historic sites, historical societies, art museums, children’s museums, science centers, special-interest museums, natural history museums, university museums, arboretums/botanical gardens, and zoos.

I join fellow HB 6901 co-introducers on a statement regarding the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the student loan forgiveness program at the federal level.

A number of new laws that my colleagues and I worked on during the 2023 legislative session to implement meaningful change will take effect in Connecticut on July 1.

HB 6901, "An Act Concerning Student Loan Reimbursement Program for Certain Professions," passed in the House on June 1.
