I joined my Meriden colleagues, the Governor, Sen. Blumenthal, Congresswoman Hayes and others for a round table conversation at John Barry Elementary School to discuss ways we can utilize American Rescue Plan funds to invest in educational opportunities for children who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Meriden just announced that Griffin Hospital will be providing 125 Johnson & Johnson vaccines to Meriden residents only today - through Friday, April 9.

Connecticut residents ages 16 and older can now begin booking a vaccine appointment.

The Renters' Rebate program opens April 1st, and runs through October 1st. This program provides rental reimbursement to elderly and disabled residents in need. These rebates can be up to $900 for married couples and $700 for individuals. The amount is based on a graduated income scale and the amount of rent and utility payments (excluding telephone) made in the prior calendar year.

Today is Equal Pay Day—a day that marks the point at which it takes a woman on average to earn what her male counterpart did the year before. In 2020, a woman in Connecticut earned only $0.83 for every dollar that a white, non-Hispanic man made.

Today, the state began expanding Covid-19 vaccine eligibility to individuals aged 45 to 54. If you are in this age category, you should be able to begin the scheduling process.

The Environment Committee's unanimously passed House Bill (HB) 6384 - An Act Concerning Aquatic Invasive Species Effects on Lakes and Related Funding that will require the commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection to enter into an agreement with the town of Middlefield and the Lake Beseck Association regarding a schedule for annual water level drawdowns of Lake Beseck.
