Dear Neighbor,

I was proudly sworn in on Wednesday as the State Representative for the 11th District, serving Manchester and East Hartford. What a moment. Thank you for your trust and faith in me. I won't let you down.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE PATRICK BIGGINS SWORN IN ON WEDNESDAY FOR HIS FIRST TERM

Democratic State Representative Patrick Biggins was sworn in on Wednesday for his first term and will represent the 11th District, covering East Hartford and Manchester. Representative Biggins replaces Jeff Currey, who did not seek re-election for a sixth term but will serve as Chief of Staff for House Majority Leader Jason Rojas.

“I would like to thank the residents of the 11th District for entrusting me to fill a role that was well-maintained under Representative Currey,” Representative Biggins said. “It is an honor and privilege to serve the people of East Hartford and Manchester, and I will do it proudly."

The swearing-in ceremony occurred in the House Chamber on Opening Day of the 2025 Legislative Session.

Rep. Biggins will sit on the Education, Public Health, and Regulations Review committees.

“I look forward to being an active participant and making an impact on these committees, all of which I have a great passion for,” Rep. Biggins said.

Representative Biggins is a school counselor at Odyssey Community School in Manchester and was previously a school counselor at Illing Middle School in Manchester. He and his wife, Emily are the proud parents of three wonderful girls who attend East Hartford Public Schools. Rep. Biggins was honored to be a part of the Board of Education in East Hartford and assisted its students in receiving a high-quality education every day. He also serves as the President of the East Hartford Men’s Golf Club and enjoys an early morning round at the local course. Representative Biggins’ goal as an elected official is to work toward the overall betterment of the community and the betterment of the state.

Now That The Legislative Session Has Begun...
My colleagues and I will tackle several important issues over the next five months. It's easier than ever to follow along and get involved. There are several resources you can utilize that will help you stay updated on the legislative process as it unfolds in Hartford.
Here's how you can stay connected and actively participate:
  • The Office of Legislative Research (OLR) provides nonpartisan and unbiased research to members of the General Assembly and their staff. Part of their duties include writing bill analyses, which are summaries of bills in plain language. Click here to check out their website.
  • You can view the Connecticut General Assembly's upcoming events by checking out its schedule on the CGA official website
  • Follow CT-N for live coverage of committee meetings and House and Senate floor debates.
  • You can register to monitor any bill's journey through the legislative process. You can enter the bill number and receive real-time updates by signing up. Stay informed with email notifications whenever there's a change in the bill's progress.

Visit this website for information on how to testify on a bill at a public hearing. Together, we can ensure all voices are heard.
