As we mark the last day of suicide prevention week, we can all help reduce the risk for suicide in our community by knowing the signs and reaching out. Talking to a loved one about getting help can be hard, but it can make a big difference. Listen without judgment and speak with kindness. Remember that it takes a lot of strength for someone to open up about the challenges they face. It may take many conversations before they get help.

Today, we honor the memory of those we lost on 9/11 and salute the courage of the heroes who risked everything. May we always remember their sacrifice and stand united in resilience and hope.

I want to highlight two youth empowering programs that can get any student or recent graduate on their way towards a career.

Rockville High School recently announced their newest inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame.

If you saw an unwelcome rise to your electricity bill this month, I share your frustration and want to provide more information about the factors contributing to it. While supply rates for electricity have dropped, the public benefits portion of the bill saw a sharp increase, and since supply and public benefits now make up nearly 60% of a total electricity bill, what does this mean for you and how did we get here?

Connecticut's annual Sales Tax-Free Week begins on Sunday, August 18 and runs through Saturday, August 24. It provides a chance to save money, whether it is taking the kids back-to-school shopping or treating yourself or your loved ones.
