Connecticut is launching a new program that will expand health care to underserved communities while forgiving the student loans of health care workers.

Food insecurity is on the rise and this is something that I care deeply about. At a press conference in Hartford on Wednesday, Feeding America shared some startling statistics.

During National Police Week and we honor the memory of our brother and sister officers who have lost their lives in the service of the communities they loved so very much. It is also a time to reflect upon the impact of such a loss on the officer's family, fellow officers and the entire community.

Connecticut law enforcement officers have our backs every day. We owe it to them to support their families and stand by them.

Veterans put their lives on the line for our country and, as a small way to say “thank you for your service,” the House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill that would support Veterans who have been disabled during service.

Paid time off was expanded in the House. House Bill 5005 allows for the accrual of paid leave, up to 40 hours each year, for those working at least 120 days annually. Businesses that already offer paid time off are exempt.

As utility service shutoffs for non-payment will start again on May 2, the state’s Consumer Counsel is warning residents about a possible scam targeting utility customers whose bills are overdue.
