Fighting for social, racial, and economic justice in the Progressive Caucus

April 25, 2018

Today, I joined with 32 of my colleagues in the legislature to launch a critical new caucus: The Progressive Caucus.

Working together in solidarity, the Progressive Caucus will drive key issues for working people and families across the state. We will be leading the fight for the issues that matter most for working folks, including a Fair Workweek to curb “on-call” scheduling, Earned Family and Medical leave, equitable taxation, and a $15 minimum wage. These ideas are not only the right and smart things to do, but they are also popular. When our legislature fails to pass common sense legislation that would simultaneously lift up working folks and boost our entire economy, then our legislature is failing to listen to the people that matter most.

The Progressive Caucus is here to help fix that. Corporate lobbyists have had their say for too long. It’s time that we prioritize the vast majority of people in our state who want to see bold ideas and real social, racial, and economic justice in Connecticut.

As a member of this caucus, I will be on the front lines working for you and all the people of our district who have been left behind by bad policy.
