Protecting Health Benefits
The House approved House Bill 5210 that calls for the 10 essential health benefits introduced under the Affordable Care Act to be codified into Connecticut law and that they remain in place regardless of what happens in Washington. The 10 benefits are:
- Ambulatory patient services
- Emergency services
- Hospitalization
- Maternity and newborn care
- Mental health and substance abuse services
- Prescription drugs
- Rehabilitative services, employees and devices
- Laboratory services
- Preventative services and chronic disease management
- Pediatric services including oral and vision care
Additionally, the bill includes access to contraception and allows doctors to prescribe a 12 month contraception supply.
