Sinkhole Shuts Down Part of Route 113

June 2, 2025

A sinkhole has shut down part of Route 113 adjacent to Sikorsky Airport and the Stewart McKinney National Wildlife Refuge. Stratford Police made the discovery around 3 p.m. during the ongoing paving project through Lordship. CLICK HERE for the approximate location of the sinkhole.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is trying to figure out how to address the issue long-term. The CTDOT's engineering staff will take tidal influences into account as they work on a plan.

I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as soon as they become available.
