Updated Timeline on Flood Prevention Project

The state has provided an updated timeline to the on-going work to permanently prevent flooding on Route 113 by Sikorsky Airport in Stratford. The contractor in charge of the project informed the Connecticut Department of Transportation that crews will deliver specialized material to the site on Monday, January 6. It will take about two weeks to complete this long-term fix.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation started installing a cofferdam system adjacent to the roadway and multiuse path in late November. The sandbags continue to keep Route 113 clear, and crews are monitoring the situation regularly.

The road runs through an environmentally sensitive tidal wetland with challenging soil conditions, causing the ground to settle there. This is why the state signed an emergency declaration in an attempt to permanently fix the flooding situation.
