On this Thanksgiving, I'm reminded of how important civility is in our culture. Even as basic tenets of our democracy are repeatedly attacked, I have faith that our best ideals will endure and thrive.

I am thankful for our country's ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity. Our community is strong thanks to our residents working together to make our state a great place to live. 

I hope your Thanksgiving is shared with family and the company of good friends. Let's also extend our thoughts to those facing challenges, and remember the importance of compassion and generosity.
