The House unanimously advanced House Bill 5406, The Connecticut Hero Act, and it is now heading to the Senate for consideration. 

The House recently passed legislation to strengthen Connecticut’s tire disposal program, requiring retail stores to fully participate by July 1, 2027.

HARTFORD — State Rep. Lucy Dathan (D–Norwalk/New Canaan), State Rep. Jay Case (R–Colebrook/Torrington/Winchester), State Sen. Cathy Osten (D–Sprague), and State Sen. Jason Perillo (R–Shelton), along with The Arc of Connecticut, advocates, individuals with disabilities, and their families, friends, and supporters, hosted a press conference at the State Capitol. The event kicked off the 11th Annual Arc of Connecticut/IDD Caucus Family Hearing Day at the Legislative Office Building.

Our Norwalk delegation announced that two Norwalk projects received a combined $5 million in state funding through Round 8 of the Community Investment Fund 2030 at the CIF board meeting.

I was pleased to host a presentation and discussion focused on employment, disability and workforce issues with members of the IDD community. We explored challenges, opportunities, and policy solutions that can strengthen disability employment outcomes and support a future‑ready workforce across Connecticut.

I joined the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for their 2026 Advocacy Day at the State Capitol.

A new round of state grants will help target food insecurity, which affects an estimated one in ten Connecticut residents.

Our 2026 legislative session kicked off this week and we’re ready to get to work. As an even-year session, this is a shorter session running from February 4 through May 6. Opening day is always a festive and exciting day for legislators, staff, family and friends.
