Proposal to Cap Insulin Costs Up for Listening Session Tuesday

July 20, 2020

Over the past year, I have heard from many of you about the rising cost of insulin and how some of you have been faced with difficult decisions to afford it.

A lifesaving medication that costs about $5 to manufacture shouldn't force individuals and their families into a position where they must choose between paying for basic living expenses and literally living. During the 2020 session I proudly cosponsored legislation to cap the monthly cost of insulin at $50 and the monthly cost of supplies and equipment to manage diabetes at $100. Although the session was cut short and we couldn't vote on the bill, we will have the opportunity to vote on a similar measure during a special session this week.

Tomorrow, July 21, at 10 a.m. the legislature's Insurance and Real Estate Committee will hold a listening session on two proposals:

The listening session will be streamed on CT-N, here.
