The State Bond Commission will be meeting Tuesday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. Among the items on the agenda to approve is $500,000 for the New Britain Avenue Business District improvement project. 

Enhancements will include the installation of sidewalks, granite curbs, street lighting, and the removal of pedestrian safety hazards.

Investing in economic development and building attractive, walkable communities will help our town and state recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and face the fiscal challenges that lie ahead. Revitalizing Newington's business districts could bring new businesses to the area and improve the quality of life for residents. 

Thank you to the governor for including the project on the agenda and creating new opportunities to strengthen our local economy during these difficult times.
