From the Department of Public Health...

As of Wednesday night, 746,888 doses of vaccine had been administered, including 504,129 first doses.

  •  65% of Connecticut’s 75 and over population has received their first dose of vaccine and nearly 20% are now fully vaccinated with both doses.
  • As of 2/16, almost all nursing home residents have received the 1st dose of vaccine (19,372) and 76% of residents have received their 2nd dose (15,502)
  •  We estimate roughly 73% of nursing home staff have received a first dose and roughly 57% have received the second dose.
  •  Round 3 of nursing home clinics is currently ongoing and DPH is working with the federal pharmacy partners for vaccinations beyond Round 3.
  • Equity continues to be a priority in our vaccine distribution. DPH is focusing additional allocation of vaccine doses to towns with the highest percentage of underserved communities, who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. This percentage is in addition to the typical weekly allotment of vaccine going to towns high on the CDC’s social vulnerability index.
  • We are working with our vaccine providers on a number of strategies to ensure that residents living in our cities and in neighborhoods with high populations of vulnerable residents are receiving vaccine. These include proactive calling to residents to schedule appointments; setting aside appointments for city/neighborhood residents; standing up mobile and on-site clinics at senior housing; and walk-up/on-site appointment registration.
  • The State is working with our pharmacy partners to focus on towns with large portions of underserved communities. 2/3rds of pharmacy locations are located in towns high on the CDC’s social vulnerability index and 1/3rd of the pharmacies are located in more remote rural areas of the state.
  • Continue to mask, social distance, practice good hand hygiene, and limit gatherings to the individuals in your own household.
With variants of COVID circulating in the US and the UK variant detected in CT, it is imperative that residents continue to follow these basic public health guidelines and to get tested if you feel sick or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive.
