Support for Americans and Allies in Afghanistan

September 9, 2021

As we continue to mourn and pray for the U.S. service members and dozens of Afghans who lost their lives in the attack on Kabul airport, I would like to share a few resources for our allies who remain in Afghanistan, courtesy of our federal delegation:

Our country is continuing its efforts to get Americans and Afghan allies out of the country immediately. The State Department has shared information for American citizens or Afghans trying to leave the country hereIf you know someone who is stranded in Afghanistan, please complete this Google Form, and our federal delegation will flag the situation for federal officials.

US Citizens and legal permanent residents trying to flee Afghanistan should immediately complete a Repatriation Assistance Request. Legal permanent residents (LPRs) and spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens in Afghanistan who are awaiting immigrant visas should also complete this form.

Some Afghans may qualify for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) or Priority 2 designation (P-2). If you know someone in Afghanistan who is seeking refuge in the United States but does not qualify for these programs, please have them review the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ information for refugees and asylum-seekers in Afghanistan as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s Humanitarian Parole requests.

The service members we lost were dedicated to our country and on a mission of mercy to protect vulnerable people in harm’s way. Their families and friends are in my thoughts.
