BACK-TO-SCHOOL BENEFIT

In case you missed it, the American Rescue Plan Act delivered again! This past weekend, the Connecticut Department of Social Services delivered a one-time, back-to-school, COVID-19 relief special benefit! Known as the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund (PEAF), this special benefit comes from a $7 million federal grant the Connecticut Department of Social Services received from the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the American Rescue Plan Act. DOL WARNS UNEMPLOYMENT FILERS OF TEXT SCAM

The Connecticut Department of Labor (DOL) is warning residents of another text scam that asks filers to verify their identity to process their unemployment payments. The text appears to be a message from ReEmployCT but sends users to a ".net" address.

DOL does not do claims work through social media or text. The department does not ask for account information or personal identifying information on text or social media. Residents should not click the links in the message.

Those who believe their personal information has been compromised should notify local law enforcement. If they believe their identity has been used to file an unemployment claim, residents should report that to DOL. More information and resources are available on the DOL's fraud page
