Dear Neighbor,
It's hard to believe we're already a month into the Legislative Session! With this in mind, I wanted to send you an update on what I've been up to around our district and at the Capitol.

Duck Day 2023
Today we celebrated our annual Duck Day. At 7:30 AM, we gathered to find out what Scramble the Duck would predict. This year, Scramble determined there will be six more weeks of winter after seeing his shadow.

Legislative Business: Firefighters & Police Officers
Our state is currently experiencing a decline in the recruitment and retention of police officers and firefighters. Every day, these dedicated individuals work to keep our community safe. Last week, I spoke with Eric Parker from WFSB about the legislative steps we're taking to address this problem. You can watch the full interview by clicking on the image below.
As the House Chairman of the Public Safety & Security Committee, I am working with the Fire/Police Chiefs and other stakeholders across Connecticut on a strategy to grow career Law Enforcement and Firefighter applicants and our volunteer firefighter ranks. We are working with the Public Health Committee on a similar strategy for EMS.

If you ever have any questions or need help, please don't hesitate to email me directly. To stay up to date with my work at the Capitol, like my Facebook page.

Sincerely,

Pat Boyd
