I wanted to update you on a major project in the region. This past Friday, as the House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Veterans' Affairs, I had the honor of participating in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Connecticut National Guard Readiness Center located just past the Pomfret line in Putnam.
The Woodstock Academy has proudly partnered with Project Courage, a behavioral and mental health center specializing in substance use prevention and recovery, for the 2022-23 school year. The partnership agreement will provide a trained substance abuse counselor on-site at The Woodstock Academy two days per week to support students in need.
Brooklyn, Eastford, and Pomfret were selected to receive a total of $719,038.28 in state grants through the Small Town Economic Assistance Program for capital improvement projects.

State Representative Pat Boyd (D – Pomfret) lauds the Connecticut State Bond Commission's approval of $1.5 million for upgrades to the regional Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications System (QVEC).
On the final day of the 2022 legislative session, state Senator Mae Flexer and state Representative Pay Boyd (D-Pomfret) announced that the state budget approved by the House of Representatives and the Senate and now awaiting Governor Ned Lamont's signature includes $5 million for Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam to help create a new workforce pipeline for critically necessary health care personnel and to mitigate some of the hospital's revenue losses suffered during the two-year COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting today, Connecticut veterans who served during times of war and in conflict zones will be able apply for a license plate that highlights the specific wartime period they served.
