School Security Grants & Fun Events Happening in Stamford

February 3, 2023
Ensuring our children's safety in the classroom is always our top priority. I am encouraging Stamford Public Schools to apply for state funding to improve school security. The state is accepting applications under two competitive grants totaling $15 million.

Grants are available for public and nonpublic K-12 schools as well as eligible childcare centers or preschools that can demonstrate that they have received threats.

The money would be used to:

  • Implement needed security infrastructure improvements
  • Upgrade emergency communication systems
Additional information and instructions on how to apply can be found online on the School Security Grant Program website.

Applications for both programs must be submitted by Friday, March 31, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Anyone who has questions should submit them via email to SchoolSecurityGrant@ct.gov.

DANGEROUSLY COLD WEATHER
In response to the freezing temperatures, the Governor has activated Connecticut's Severe Cold Weather protocol. The protocol continues until 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 5. The cold weather protocol aims to ensure that people who may be exposed to the cold weather have access to shelter for this time. Warming centers and shelters will be open across our state. If you or someone you know needs shelter, please call 2-1-1 to be directed to a nearby location and transportation if necessary. Click here for more information.
