New Canaan Branch Line To Reopen

August 25, 2023

Trains from the New Canaan line will soon return to the rails now that crews have completed a track improvement project. I will outline when train service will resume.

We are doing more some to uplift students seeking higher education. Our budget expanded debt-free community college, and I'm encouraging college students who will be traveling to their schools and universities to apply for an absentee ballot.

New Canaan Line Train Service To Resume Soon

Trains will be running once again on the Metro-North New Canaan Branch line starting on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) finished the track improvement project, and this means a previous speed restriction in the Stamford area has been eliminated.
Starting September 2, trains will be able to travel 20 miles per hour faster with improved and more reliable service. According to CTDOT, test trains will be on the tracks between Stamford and New Canaan in both directions to inspect the railroad crossings and tracks. CLICK HERE for more information.

Speaking of trains, I want to remind you there will be detours at the Stamford Transportation Center starting tomorrow, August 26, 2023. CLICK HERE for all the details.

          Back-To-School Community College

We worked hard to pass a budget that focuses on affordable education. Our budget includes permanent funding for Pledge to Advance CT (PACT) and expands PACT to include students returning to college after being previously enrolled.

          Absentee Ballot For College Students

With the upcoming college semester just around the corner, I want to remind all eligible students who will be attending college out of our district to apply for an absentee ballot. Your vote matters and it's essential that we all participate in shaping the future of our community.
