The state's severe cold weather protocol will remain in effect through Tuesday, Dece. 9, at noon. Low temperatures over the next few days will dip into the single digits, with wind chills close to zero at times. Newington's Night of Lights and Tree Lighting Ceremony is tonight, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Main Street. The free event will feature an appearance by Santa (6:20 p.m.), hay wagon and train tides, a bonfire with s'mores, video game trailer and more.
The celebration will also feature the second annual Merry Market, bringing together local artisans, crafters, and small businesses to showcase their holiday creations along Main Street.
