Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday!

Governor Ned Lamont activated Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol today at noon, and it will remain in effect until noon on Wednesday, January 28, due to a blast of extremely cold air that will impact the state during this period.

Please be reminded that warming centers throughout the area are available for individuals and families in need. You can search for them here. These locations provide a safe, heated space during extreme cold conditions.

Please join me, State Representative Anthony Nolan, and State Representative Aundré Bumgardner for a Groton town hall next Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 6-7:30pm at the Thrive 55 Senior Center (102 Newtown Rd., Groton). We will give you a preview of the 2026 Legislative Session and talk about the issues most important to you. I hope to see you there!

In the rest of this week's eblast, you can read about energy savings tips, and more. You can click the links below to navigate between sections.

Human Trafficking Awareness Month

Human trafficking is a crime that thrives in the shadows. This month, we shine a light and step into action to prevent human trafficking in Connecticut. During the 2025 session, we passed bipartisan legislation prohibiting various forms of discrimination by employers and owners of prospective rental units based on someone’s status as a sexual assault or human trafficking victim.

Connecticut is the Fourth Healthiest State!

Connecticut was ranked 4th Healthiest State in the Nation by the United Health Foundation. This score is determined by data collection in areas related to social and economic factors, physical environment, access to healthcare, health outcomes and behavior. I'm proud to live in a state that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of our residents!

Sincerely,

Dan Gaiewski
State Representative
