Attention high school students - the 2026 Lynn DeCaro Poetry Contest is now open. The contest was created in memory of Lynn DeCaro, a promising young member of the Connecticut Poetry Society who died of leukemia in 1986.  
 
The contest is statewide, free, and open to all students in grades 9-12. Interested individuals can enter up to three unpublished poems. There is a 40 line cap for each poem.
 
To enter, visit ctpoetry.org and click on the tab for poetry contests. Deadline is March 15 by 6 p.m.
 

Filling in the Blanks, a Norwalk based non-profit, will host a monthly mobile food pantry on the second Saturday of the month from 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM. Please visit the Filling in the Blanks website for more information. 
 

ICYMI- The Norwalk NAACP Branch, Norwalk Public Library and SoNo Entertainment are collaborating for an event called  "Rhythm of Our Roots",  a discussion of the history of Black Music in America. The event will be held on February 21 at the Norwalk Public Library. Please see the flyer below for more information. 
 

ICYMI - Norwalk Public Schools will hold the 4th annual Black History & Heritage Festival on Thursday, February 26 from 5:45 PM - 8 PM at Norwalk High School. 

This event will feature student performances and presentations on Black history and culture, as well as local Black-owned business fair. 
 

CT is making $1.55 million of state funding available to support the Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s Local Food Purchase and Assistance Grant. The program aims to increase access to locally grown farm products for distribution to food-insecure populations, while also supporting the operations of Connecticut farmers and the state’s overall agricultural economy.
