Dear Neighbor,

Injun Hollow: What’s in a name?

Haddam residents who wish to voice their opinion about whether or not to change the controversial name of a local road will have their chance tomorrow, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12. ALL Haddam residents are eligible to vote on whether or not to change Injun Hollow Road to something else. (The vote tomorrow is only whether or not to change it: if the majority votes “yes” the specific name options will be voted on at a later time.)

The vote will be held in the Haddam Neck Firehouse, at 7 p.m.

Food Scrap Diversion Needs Your Help

Sustainability advocates from Essex, Deep River, and Chester are looking for a few volunteers to help educate students and support the school food scrap diversion program starting at the high school (with middle school students there also) on Tuesday, January 2. The group would like to have it staffed for a minimum of one week. Volunteers need only stand next to the food composting bins and help students identify what can and cannot go in it.

Here are the days and times (lunch waves) when volunteers are needed:

Monday, January 8: 10:40-12:45

Tuesday, January 2 & 9: 11:30-1:15

Wednesday, January 3 & 10: 11:30-1:15

Thursday, January 4 & 11: 11:30-1:15

Friday, January 5 & 12: 10:40-12:45

To reply if you can volunteer and on what days, email: lgrunko@reg4.k12.ct.us.

Local Holiday Markets are still open!

Shoppers still have a chance to grab some great crafts and goodies while supporting local artisans! The Chester Sunday Market will be held one more Sunday (December 17) before Christmas. Check it out here: https://chestersundaymarket.jimdofree.com/holiday-market-info/

And the 8th Annual Higganum Holiday Market has one more weekend to go! More than 65 artisans from Haddam and all over Connecticut make this event special. Held at the former HES parking lot. Hours are Th/F 3-7. Sat/Sun10-4.

And don’t forget to check out the starry lights of Chester!

Please feel free to contact me by email at Christine.Palm@cga.ct.gov with any questions or concerns.
