Time to Make Your Voice Heard!
February 23, 2024

Now that the Legislative Session is in full swing, your voice is needed at the Capitol!

We are at that point in the cycle in which committees are voting to raise bill concepts; drafting, reviewing, and revising bill language; and scheduling public hearings to hear from people like you.

Because it’s a short session, this process gets more and more intense each day as we barrel toward the finish line of May 8.  Meaning: if you intend to testify on any bill, now is the time to start collecting your thoughts!

As always, my staff and I are more than happy to explain the process to you.  Again, one of the few silver linings of the pandemic is that we now conduct public hearings via Zoom as well as in person. You may also submit written testimony, although this is usually the least effective way to make your voice heard.

Here are a few upcoming public hearings. Just click on the link that says “Agenda” to see what bills are being heard that day. Please remember that you do not need to be a subject matter expert in order to testify; you need only to be a person who genuinely cares about an issue and is willing to express your position.

I've pulled out a few of the more significant bills for your consideration.
