This week, Southington Public Schools opened for the 2024-25 school year. Click on my video below to hear my best wishes to Southington’s students, teachers and families for a productive and successful year.

This week, I was invited to visit Dean’s Stove & Spa in Plantsville where I toured the “front of the house” showrooms and the expansive “back of the house” operation. I met with Sean Michanczyk and his team to learn about emerging products and technologies that are safe, produce low emissions, and offer renewable fuel sources. Mindful of the upcoming winter, I am open to exploring, incentivizing, and promoting all options for alternate energy sources that will cut home heating costs for Connecticut residents.

If you saw an unwelcome rise in your electricity bill this month, I want you to know that I share your frustration and I am reaching out to provide some background information and to let you know the steps I am taking to address what is happening.

It was an excellent evening of great food and catching up with neighbors at the 21st annual Taste of Southington on Wednesday.

This week I attended the annual Empowered to Lead Symposium at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, where it was a privilege to catch up with U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, fellow legislators, and hundreds of Connecticut teachers.

This week I attended the Southington Chamber of Commerce’s final Business After Hours Networking Event of the summer. Thank you to Hidden Valley Miniature Golf for hosting. As always it was a pleasure to catch up with Chamber members, meet new folks, and learn more about Southington’s business community. I am proud to advocate on their behalf.

It was a special privilege to present an official state citation to Town Manager Mark Sciota in recognition of his retirement and 29 years of service to Southington.

It was great to swing by the Southington Farmers Market today on the Town Green and visit with the local vendors and spend some time talking with old friends and making new ones while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. I can't wait to enjoy the cherries I purchased from Gresczyk Farms.
