Dear Neighbor,

Last Wednesday, I held a press conference to discuss a proposed bill pertaining to juvenile justice.

Under current Connecticut law, individuals who were under the age of 21 at the time of their sentencing are only eligible for early parole if they were sentenced before Oct. 1, 2005. My proposed legislation would eliminate the Oct. 1, 2005, sentencing cutoff and raise the eligible age from 21 and younger at the time of sentencing to younger than 26.

Thank you to all of the legislators and advocates who spoke and stood in solidary. This commonsense change could be lifechanging to several individuals.
