Dear Neighbor,

A bill that I have cosponsored will have a public hearing in the Judiciary Committee next week. The public hearing for SB 503 will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 10 AM.

If passed, SB 503 will make critical changes to eligibility for early parole. Under current Connecticut law, individuals who were under the age of 21 at the time of their sentencing are only eligible for early parole if they were sentenced before Oct. 1, 2005. SB 503 would eliminate the Oct. 1, 2005, sentencing cutoff and raise the eligible age from 21 and younger at the time of sentencing to younger than 26.

If you are interested in testifying, you can share your thoughts in person, via Zoom, or over the phone. Click here to register for in-person or Zoom. To register to testify by phone, call the Phone Registrant Line at (860) 240-0033 to leave your contact information. Registration will close on Tuesday, March 17 at 3:00 P.M.

Finally, written testimony can be submitted here
