Installing wind turbines, phasing out plastic bags, a statewide ban on fracking waste, and growing our green energy industry are some of the bills we passed this session.

Here are some highlights from the past week and a look ahead at events for Ansonia & Derby.

I appreciate all the concerns I have heard regarding the lack of progress with bonding of the Valley Fire School. Nobody is more disappointed than I am in light of the meticulous and aggressive efforts that I have made over the past several months. I want to emphasize that I have been pursuing the Valley Fire School through proper channels to ensure that this project would move forward.

The state budget approved on Monday night provides an increase in ECS funding for Ansonia and Derby’s education systems.

I am very proud of legislation that passed with overwhelming support in both the House and Senate regarding Connecticut’s rapidly growing craft beer, wine and cider industries. In just a few short years these industries have grown from a few hundred jobs to several thousand and generate millions for the state economy. 

After many hours of debate over the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) legislation, the House of Representatives passes the bill, which has already been approved by the Senate.

The House of Representatives unanimously passed an important bill that has been six years in the making.
