Connecticut is a leader when it comes to sensible gun safety laws. Yesterday, we continued our leadership on the issue by passing Ethan’s Law, legislation regulating ghost guns, and legislation increasing safe storage in motor vehicles.

Led by Rep. Steven Stafstrom, co-chair of the Judiciary Committee, the House of Representatives has approved bipartisan legislation he introduced to reduce gun violence in Connecticut. Representative Stafstrom wrote the bills making up the legislation and led the lawmakers in a debate of the bills before they were approved by a bipartisan vote and sent to the Senate for final passage.

The House of Representatives passed HB 7218 and HB 7219 today.

During a hearing of the Judiciary Committee on March 11, I was honored to introduce Mark Barden, a prominent gun-safety advocate who lost his son Daniel in the Sandy Hook School massacre more than five years ago. Mark offered public testimony in support of Ethan's Law, HB 7218, legislation that would close loopholes in Connecticut's state firearm storage laws.

State Representative Bob Godfrey (D-Danbury) joined Judiciary Committee co-chairs Rep. Steve Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) and Sen.
