The Push to Establish a Halfway House for Women in Greater New Haven

Although bill HB 5204,which would have established a halfway house in New Haven for female ex-offenders, failed to move forward for consideration to the Judiciary Committee, I will continue to seek the facility's establishment to help those released from the Department of Corrections transition into the community.

Affordable Housing Testimony Heard

Our Housing Committee heard testimony today on the affordable housing bill. HB 5363, An Act Concerning the Affordable Housing Land Use Appeals Procedure had its public hearing in the Legislative Office Building where several people submitted testimony to be considered by the committee.

During the 2016 Homelessness and Housing Advocacy event at the Legislative Office Building, Rep. Rojas heard from people who have experienced being homeless. He told advocates that state lawmakers hear their message loud and clear and called on them to talk to local officials about helping to end homelessness.
