Sadly, statistics show that 1 in 4 women & 1 in 7 men are affected by domestic violence. That is why I am proud that Connecticut is at the forefront in addressing this issue, passing laws that offer more support and protection to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

This weekend, several new laws in Connecticut will go into effect on October 1. These laws are a result of my colleagues' hard work during the 2022 session. Below are just some of the laws that will take effect and what they mean for you.

​​​​​​​I want to alert you about a recent communication from the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) on a series of text scams that include links to fake webpages resembling CTDOL unemployment pages, including the unemployment benefits login page.

I am excited to announce that CareerConneCT, a program I supported to help individuals whose employment was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, is underway.

I am proud to share some historic highlights from the 2022
legislative session.
Historic like more than $650 million in tax cuts. Historic like
our investment in the mental health of our children. Historic
like our commitment to growing jobs and our economy.
Historic like a state budget that pays off millions in pension
debt and continues our record rainy day fund while investing
in Hamden and New Haven’s schools, mental health, public
safety and programs that work - all while honoring the
spending cap
That’s not to say we aren’t facing challenges. We are seeing
inflation that hits everyone’s wallets and housing prices
that are pricing many out of even modest homes. That’s
why I fought hard to provide you with relief: increasing the
property tax payment, phasing out taxes on retirement
income, creating a childcare rebate, cutting the gas tax and
more.
