March is Women's History Month and March 8 is International Women's Day. A day to celebrate women who have inspired change throughout history, and recognize those who continue to fight for the fair and equitable treatment of women and girls around the world

I had a wonderful time Saturday morning as the guest speaker for the Ms. President U.S. civic leadership program! The icing on the cake was being joined by two of my favorite Hamden elected officials, Board of Education member, Mariam Khan and Councilwoman Laurie Sweet.

Last year, the America 250 | CT Commission was created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which will take place in 2026. The Commission is tasked with creating an inclusive and engaging commemoration where Connecticut’s residents can appreciate history's relevance and understand the diverse people of the past that all contributed to the American story.

I had the awesome opportunity yesterday morning to visit "haven's harvest" with Lori Martin and Lorrice Grant who are doing a phenomenal job working with business owners who struggle to find community partners to accept their excess food and need transportation to get that food to those in need.

It was a pleasure and a blessing to read to the precious pre-scoolers at Harris and Tucker School, Inc. in Hamden, CT this morning! The value of literacy to our democracy cannot be understated and reading to our children helps to inspire and expand their curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Each one teach one. Each one lead one.

Now that cannabis is legal in Connecticut, our criminal justice system needs to redeem those caught up in the system for cannabis-related offenses. I support House Bill 6787 and believe we are long overdue to make our communities more equitable and fair.

Last week I testified to ensure Connecticut has environmental and labor creation standards for offshore wind.

Very soon, there will be changes for some of our most vulnerable individuals and families who are on Medicaid. Starting on April 1, the COVID-19 public health emergency protection will be coming to an end. Medicaid enrollees who were continuously covered will again have to provide proof of eligibility to continue getting benefits.
