Part of what makes Connecticut great is that we seek to lift up all residents, regardless of income or background. This program is one more example of that commitment to our community.

A number of new laws, that my colleagues and I worked on during the 2023 legislative session to implement meaningful change in our state, will take effect in Connecticut on July 1.

The Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center in the Dixwell Community "Q" House opened on Monday. The health center is a new clinic that will provide services to nearby residents.

Today is Juneteenth, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this day and what it means for our country.

I joined Senator Richard Blumenthal and local advocates of maternal health to talk about the high rates of maternal mortality that women in this country face, especially Black women. Sen. Blumenthal is pushing for $1 billion to put towards resources to solve the Black maternal health crisis in Connecticut and the U.S.

After months of negotiations, yesterday the House of Representatives delivered a state budget that includes the largest income tax cut in the state’s history and significant increases in funding for local schools, also known as Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funds.

We did it!

The state’s minimum wage will increase from $14.00 to $15.00 per hour beginning Thursday, June 1, 2023.

On Wednesday, community activist Barbara Fair, myself, and members of the social justice community gathered at the Legislative Office Building to honor former Connecticut Board of Pardons & Paroles Chairperson and current board member Carleton Giles.
