Recently the state took another step closer to a $15 minimum wage after the legislature’s Labor and Public Employees Committee moved three bills concerning a minimum wage increase out of committee.

Our legislative priority for this session is to make sure that workers are paid a living wage so that no one who works full time lives in poverty.

Today, Democrats in the Connecticut General Assembly announced joint priorities for the 2019 legislative session. The legislative package focuses on establishing a paid family and medical leave program, raising the minimum wage, investing in job training and the state’s workforce pipeline, supporting small businesses, making prescription drugs more affordable, creating a Green New Deal for Connecticut and increasing access to the ballot box.

Gary Winfield (D-New Haven)  along with several legislative colleagues from both parties and activists to announce legislation the committee would take on to reduce gun violence and make Connecticut communities safer.
