Prior to the start of the 2022 legislative session, House Democrats pledged to support policies and bills that would help cut our carbon footprint, increase our reliance on clean energy sources, and protect the health of Connecticut residents.

I'm happy to announce the passage of a bill I co-sponsored and that many of you contacted me about - S.B. 120, AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF CHLORPYRIFOS ON GOLF COURSES AND NEONICOTINOIDS FOR NONAGRICULTURAL USE).

This bill bans the use of chlorpyrifos (which is a pesticide used for the purpose of controlling foliage and certain insects) on golf courses or for cosmetic/nonagricultural uses.  

On Tuesday, I joined State Rep. Bobby Gibson (D-Bloomfield, Windsor), Gov. Ned Lamont, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes, House and Senate colleagues, and environmental advocates in Bloomfield for a bill signing that sets up Connecticut to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis by decarbonizing the electric sector and expanding existing renewable energy programs.

The American Farmland Trust released the following press release commending Environment Committee Co-chair Joseph Gresko and members of the Connecticut General Assembly for the inclusion of climate initiatives the State's Biennium Budget.
