Bridge Strengthening on Gold Star Memorial Bridge

The Connecticut Department of Transportation began work on bridge strengthening for the Gold Star Memorial Bridge on Tuesday that will be completed on Nov. 1, 2025

There will be a left lane closure on I-95 southbound across the Gold Star Memorial Bridge from Tuesday, March 25 to November 1, 2025. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.

Culvert Replacement on Route 215 in Groton

The DOT will also perform a culvert replacement on Route 215 in Groton starting Tuesday, April 1. The project will occur on Mondays-Fridays and is anticipated to be completed on Nov. 22

There will be alternating one way traffic on Route 215 during the summer months with an established work zone delineated by temporary concrete barrier curb and associated temporary signalization with traffic lights. Traffic control signing patterns with flaggers and municipal police officers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Equal Pay Day

March 25th marked how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year – an undeniable reminder of the persistent wage gap and the ongoing fight for gender equality in the workplace. Equal Pay Day highlights the system barriers that continue to disadvantage women, particularly women of color, who face even wider pay disparities.

In Connecticut, we are making significant strides to close this gap through legislation like the Pay Equity and Opportunity Act, which:

  • strengthens pay transparency
  • bans employers from asking about salary history
  • ensures that workers are paid fairly based on skills and expertise

There is still work to do. Pay inequity affects families, communities, and the overall economy. When women are paid fairly, households are stronger, children have better opportunities, and businesses benefit from a more motivated and diverse workforce.

Together, we are working toward a future where equal work means equal pay for everyone. We can build a Connecticut where no one is shortchanged simply because of their gender.
