Happy Friday!
In this week's eblast, you can read about my support for Electric Boat's workers, our legislative session, and more. You can click the links below to navigate between sections.
|
|
I was so proud to stand in solidarity with hundreds of striking Electric Boat employees this week who are fighting for a new contract that recognizes the value they bring to their company.
Policies like giving employees fair wages and a share of the profits made from this billion-dollar success story in Groton is a reasonable approach that will attract even more residents to our town, and I hope to see a contract signed that all parties support! |
|
It was great seeing my legislative colleagues and getting to work for the people of the 40th District at legislative session this week!
You can read more about some bills working their way through the legislation process further along in this eblast.
I look forward to keeping you updated on the work we're doing for you at the Capitol! |
|
| I had a great time with many of my fellow elected officials at the commissioning of the USS Iowa at the Subase! |
|
| Great job to the more than 21,000 workers at Electric Boat who build these world class submarines for our Country’s national defense! They make our country proud, and God Bless the new Sailors and their families of the USS Iowa. |

I want to share a state from the Town of Groton Police Department regarding concerning reports in our neighborhood. The statement is long, but is worth reading in full:
"The Town of Groton Police Department is aware of several social media posts that have raised concern within our community. We would like to share the following information to help clarify the situation and address those concerns.
Our detectives continue their efforts to locate Steven Joseph Gush. Extensive searches along Route 184 have been conducted using our Drone Unit, Search and Rescue K-9 Teams, and divers from the Connecticut State Police. Their assistance has been invaluable in covering areas with limited accessibility and eliminating certain locations from focus, allowing our detectives to concentrate on other leads. We have remained in close and consistent contact with Mr. Gush’s family, who have also organized independent search efforts. We remain hopeful that our ongoing investigation will lead to positive developments.
We are also aware of a report of a suspicious male observed at Bluff Point State Park last week. We are working in coordination with the Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police, who have primary jurisdiction over this matter. They have been in contact with the reporting party, and our department will continue to support their investigation as needed.
Regarding references circulating on social media about incidents in the State of Rhode Island, we currently have no information connecting those events to any of the incidents in Groton. While we understand the concern, it is important to note that many of the claims on social media are speculative. We encourage residents to refer to verified local news sources for factual reporting on these matters.
While we have no evidence at this time linking these incidents, we always urge the public to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings. If you observe suspicious activity or witness a crime, please report it to the appropriate local authorities. In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1.
If you have any information that may assist in locating Steven Joseph Gush, please contact us at 860-441-6712.
