It’s back to school season. So I wanted to take a moment to bring you up to speed on some of the important new laws we passed this session to make sure our kids get the best education possible.

Opioid addiction does not discriminate. It does not care about your age, background or whether you came from a good family.

This year’s budget implements tax cuts for seniors on social security and who receive pensions.

There were several laws passed this session to benefit our veterans and the military.

Installing wind turbines, phasing out plastic bags, a statewide ban on fracking waste, and growing our green energy industry are some of the bills we passed this session.

Here are some highlights from the past week and a look ahead at events for Ansonia & Derby.

I appreciate all the concerns I have heard regarding the lack of progress with bonding of the Valley Fire School. Nobody is more disappointed than I am in light of the meticulous and aggressive efforts that I have made over the past several months. I want to emphasize that I have been pursuing the Valley Fire School through proper channels to ensure that this project would move forward.

The state budget approved on Monday night provides an increase in ECS funding for Ansonia and Derby’s education systems.
