I want to make you all aware that United Illuminating has submitted a "Rate Case" to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) to amend its rate schedules and address what they say is a $105 million operating deficiency for their upcoming rate year.
According to United Illuminating, this amendment would mean the average residential customer using 700 KW per month would see an increase of about $24.64 to their monthly bill.
They are claiming that the operating deficit is driven by structural deficiencies in previous rate settings, unrecovered costs, increasing operational costs, and environmental remediation expenses.
As part of the application process, there will be three public comment hearings where you can make your voice heard:
- Monday, January 27 @ 5:30PM - Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604
- Monday, March 10 @ 5:30PM - Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824
- Tuesday, March 18 @ 12PM - REMOTE ACCESS: Meeting Registration - Zoom
