Over the past few weeks I have visited multiple local and state-wide organizations that have been hosting a wide variety of philanthropic events, and there is a term that I best believes summarizes what I have experienced : Selfless Service.

This past week, my family and I traveled to Washington D.C. to visit the “National Museum of African American History and Culture.” I read many inspirational quotes while touring the facility. However, there was one quote I believe best summarizes my thoughts and feelings from this past week.

Connecticut recently got a national shout-out for adopting a state budget that includes a variety of tax cuts for those who need the most help such as working families and retirees.

According to an article from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Connecticut is a leader on tax relief for low-and middle-income earners.

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court's devastating decision overturning Roe v. Wade, I am pleased that Connecticut has been a national leader in passing a number of measures defending residents, healthcare workers, and those from out-of-state seeking reproductive services and resources.

Our nation’s birthday was only a few days ago, and despite many of the human rights losses we have seen nation-wide, I am more committed than I have ever been in the fight for a more just and fair America.

Great news for first-time homeowners! An additional $20 million has been added to the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority's (CHFA) Time To Own Program. Funding for the program - which offers down payment assistance to low- and moderate-income homebuyers in Connecticut - now stands at $80 million, with over $21.5 million currently available for loan reservations.

Though the majority of new laws approved by the legislature will take effect in October, there are a number of laws that went into effect July 1. Here's some of the highlights as well as a link to the complete list.
