The State Bond Commission officially approved $6,121,390 in funding for housing by the Greater Dwight Development Corporation as recommended by the CIF board.

Great news! New Haven is set to receive a $3.3 million state grant from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The funds will be used to build a new composting and food scrap diversion facility to support plans for the launch of citywide residential curbside composting in the Elm City.

Great news! The Community Investment Fund 2030 Board approved funding for four New Haven based projects, including one organization based in the Dwight community. The Greater Dwight Development Corporation was awarded $6,121,390 for a Community Building Initiative.

The Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) has introduced a valuable new resource for federal employees and contractors who have recently lost their jobs or been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

The last week in February will be a busy one at the state capitol. The House will be in session tonight at 5PM to vote on an immediate $40 million injection of state funding to cities and towns to support Special Education needs for the current fiscal year.

The Carnegie Foundation announced that Southern Connecticut State University has earned a 2025 Carnegie Classification for Institutions of Higher Education (Carnegie Classifications) Research Activity Designation – Research 2: High Spending and Doctorate Production.

Though there are difficulties in Washington, we are working in Hartford to build a better Connecticut. Governor Lamont addressed the General Assembly to share his budget proposal. It was a good faith effort, and I look forward to working with my colleagues and the governor to pass a budget that is beneficial to all residents in the state. Although the uncertainty on the federal level may impact any of our proposals, it is important that we continue to roll up our sleeves and get the work done.
