After a majority of Connecticut voters approved a ballot measure a few years ago, we will finally join 47 other states and will be able to commence early voting this Monday, October 21st.

I’m sure you are all aware of the terrible accident of one of our Avon High School students this past week. It is a stark reminder to all of us that we need to share the road with bicyclists, and we can all use to slow down and pay more attention on the road.

The feeling of fall is in the air, especially with the harvest super moon last night and I know that I am looking forward to the cooler days and nights, the apple cider donuts, and the fall festivals and events.

Each year we get a little further away from that fateful 9/11 in 2001, but the grief from that day is always within reach. We have never been the same and our connections to New York, Washington, and Shanksville are deeply personal.

It’s hard to imagine that we will honor September 11th next week for the 23rd time. The weather this week reminded me of how eerily beautiful that week was. I mention this ahead of the anniversary because the public is invited to attend the public memorial in the state’s official ceremony in Westport.
