Nearly $230,000 in new relief funds will be coming to support local food and beverage establishments in Derby and Ansonia that were financially hit over the past few years due to COVID-19.

I hope this email finds you well. I have some good news to share! The State Bond Commission met on Friday to approve state bonding for numerous community initiatives across our state. Among the selected awards was nearly $1.35 million for Griffin Hospital to replace an emergency generator.

We are always working hard to improve our economy and rebound from the recent COVID-19-induced recession. We have weathered difficult economic times over the past few years and during the 2022 session, we passed legislation that takes steps to propel our economy forward.

State Representative Kara Rochelle (D – Ansonia/Derby) and Senator Jorge Cabrera (D – Hamden) are partnering with The WorkPlace, Career Resources, and the American Job Center to host the Lower Valley Job Fair on Thursday, June 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ansonia High School. The event will feature nearly 40 employers from a variety of industries for various skillsets, pay scales, and hours.

This week's update spotlights acts supporting public safety and our first responders. These bills take steps to ensure those who protect our communities can access the vital resources and tools to do their jobs safely. Our fire, police, and emergency medical professionals do so much, making great sacrifices as they respond to emergencies at all hours.

Applications for the Child Tax Payments that was included as part of a historic $600 million in tax cuts in our 2022 state budget are now open through July 31, 2022 - recipients will receive funds beginning in late August.

This session, our work in the Connecticut General Assembly was focused on making our state more affordable for all residents. We passed a state budget adjustment bill that delivers over $650 million in tax relief for retirees, property owners, workers, parents, small businesses, and more.
