The House of Representatives took a step toward addressing the mental health crisis facing Connecticut teens using social media by passing HB 6857 -- a bill that I led before the House chamber and co-sponsored --  with bipartisan support.

House Democrats took action on Wednesday in passing legislation that limits when warehouse employers use production quotas.

The week began with me and several of my colleagues calling out the Trump Administration for its horribly timed reversal of the pause on student loan repayments. To be clear: people want to, and should, repay what they owe for the loans they received, or have their payments reduced if they qualify for a relief of assistance program. However, they also should have the flexibility to pay those loans back at a schedule and at a rate that works for them to enable them to juggle other household bills. 

The town of Newington and city of New Britain suffered an unimaginable tragedy last weekend when four people, including a Newington High School student, died in a three-vehicle vehicle crash on Willard Avenue.

The Trump Administration's unrelenting war on middle- and low-income Americans continues with the recent reversal of a decision on student loan repayments, a policy that went into effect five years ago during Trump's first administration. Now, the Department of Education has been charged with sending accounts in default to collections beginning in May.

I was back in the Capitol chambers on Wednesday for a session to vote on several appointments. My colleagues and I have plans for additional sessions this month, with things really ramping up in May.

There's a lot to talk about this week on the local, state and federal levels. Unfortunately, at the top of the list is more nonsensical, cruel and damaging cuts continuing to cascade from the federal government.

Legislation I introduced with the New Britain State Legislative Delegation, while working with the Greater New Britain League of Women Voters recently passed the Government Administration and Elections Committee.
